OLEANZA PARTICIPATES IN PRODEXPO 2015 (Moscow)
The twenty-second edition of PRODEXPO –the largest international exhibition in Russia specialising in food, beverages and the raw materials used to make them– began today in Moscow.
Prodexpo is the largest and most important international exhibition in Russia and, every year, companies, importers and distributors from the food and beverage sector make attendance a priority. The event has a huge impact on the Russian market, currently considered one of the most attractive in the world, due to its size and economic strength. Spanish agri-food and beverage products, especially those that are characterised by their quality, are in high demand in Russia and are very competitive compared to Russian productive companies. In 2013, Russia imported around EUR 5 billion in products belonging to these categories from Spain.
OLEANZA is participating in the event once again, in light of the interest shown in its products at the previous edition, which demonstrated the Russian markets growing interest in quality. Our stand is located in the ICEX Pavilion, specifically in HALL 2.3, STAND 23C81.

NON-REFILLABLE OLIVE OIL BOTTLES AND MANDATORY LABELLING APPROVED FOR HOTELS, RESTAURANTS AND INSTITUTIONS
Last Friday, the Council of Ministers passed a Royal Decree that will require hotels, restaurants and institutionsto use properly-labelled non-refillable olive oil bottles. The new regulation, proposed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, will come into effect on January 1, 2014.
The Spanish Government has kept its promise of promoting the good use of a product that plays an important role in our cuisine, culture and economy. Spanish olive oil is famous around the world, which is why the utmost care should be taken with the quality as well as with promoting the good use of the oil and the information available to final consumers.
To that end, Royal Decree 895/2013 establishes that:
The oils that are made available to consumers at hotels, restaurants and institutions must be presented in labelled bottles, with an opening system that loses its integrity after the first use, and must have a protection system that keeps them from being refilled once the original content is used up.
This aims to prevent fraud, guaranteeing the maximum quality of the product, and also to improve the general image of Spanish olive oil and the competitiveness of Spanish products and companies. This regulation is set out within the Action Plan for the EU Olive Oil Sector, which pursues the same objectives at the international level.
The different professionals in the sector will be able to continue using the oils that do not comply with this new regulation, if they were acquired prior to the approval of the Royal Decree; however, these oils cannot be used after February 28, 2014. In principle, this new regulation is good news both for the olive oil sector and for consumers, but we will have to wait and see how it is really implemented and how it will affect different stakeholders.
